For those of you who don't know, my Dad has been through some pretty bad health problems the last few years. He's had colon cancer, leukemia, multiple myaloma (I think that's how you spell it), 2 knee transplants, 2 strokes and shingles. The last stroke wasa real doozy and scared all of us. He's the strongest man I've ever known and has fought them all one by one. For Father's Day this year we wanted to do something really special. He's on the board for The Highground, a Veteran's Memorial in Neillsville, WI. It's really quite the place, very moving. They have Legacy stones you can purchase and dedicate to a veteran, which they lay in the pathways around the Highground. There is no one we know who deserves one more than my dad. This last Saturday my whole family got together for the first time in years and dedicated a stone to Dad. Here's a few pictures from the ceremony. They placed 27 stones that day and it was HOT outside! But we were all troopers! : )
